Covert Ops - FAQ
Q: Where does Covert Ops take place? A: Somewhere outside Tucson, Arizona. The facility features a shooting range, driving track, cafeteria, lounge, swimming pool, dojo, weight room and student rooms. Q: Do I get to fire a real gun? A: Yes. On the firing range, you will be issued safety goggles and ear plugs and shown how to safely load and fire a 9 mm hand gun. Our experts instructors will then teach you to shoot, using the Close Quarter Battle System. For live fire exercises, paint ball weapons are used. Q: Can I bring my own gun? A: No. For safety reasons, all students are required to use equipment supplied by Covert Ops.
Q: Do I need to be able to drive a car with manual (standard) transmission? A: No. Our vehicles feature automatic transmissions. You should have a driver's license valid in your home country. Q: Do I need to be in great physical shape to participate? A: No. The program is open to adults of all ages. You must only be in reasonably good health. Q: How much physical exercise is required? A: Friday and Saturday mornings start with an hour of physical training (PT), before breakfast. Participants are led in a series of stretching exercises, designed to get operatives "warmed up" for the days' activities. The exercises are followed by a "run or walk at your own pace" lap around the track. We recommend you attend PT, but participation in all our classes is entirely optional. Covert Ops is not Boot Camp. Q: Will I stay in barracks? A: Although officially known as "barracks", rooms at the facility resemble small dormitory rooms. Each room is equipped with a twin bed, desk, small dresser and lamp. You may be required to share a connecting bathroom with another Covert Ops participant. Pay phones are located near each barracks building. Q: How's the food? A: Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included in the Covert Ops package. Meals are served in a cafeteria located on site. While not gourmet dining, you will find a wide variety of food choices. (Beverages in the Officers' Lounge are at your own expense.) Q: Is Covert Ops just for men? A: Absolutely not. The program is open to men and women. Q: What type of special clothing do I need? A: No special clothing is required. We suggest you bring comfortable clothing, suitable to a variety of temperatures and weather conditions. (Covert Ops activities go on, rain or shine.) Gym shoes, gym shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts and jeans are fine. You may also want to be a windbreaker or light jacket. Q: Can I bring my camera? A: Yes, however you may only take photos in designated Covert Ops training areas. Most areas of the training facility are "classified". Anyone caught taking photos outside designated Covert Ops areas will have camera and film confiscated. Q: What else should I pack? A: The desert sun and wind can be powerful. Don't forget to pack sunglasses, sunscreen, and chapstick or lip balm. You may also wish to bring an alarm clock or clock radio for your room and a swimsuit. |
